SECURITY OFFICER ACADEMY

Enroll in this 126-hour, TUITION-FREE full security officer academy approved by Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). Security officer applicants and current security officers will receive all mandatory, elective, and refresher course curriculum for complete professional officer training to begin a career in the protective security field, which may also lead you into law enforcement. Powers to Arrest and exam, and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and Terrorist Awareness is covered first, for guard card issuance allowing you to work while completing the program. Full training is given in all elective modules including: school officer and exam, arrest, search/seizure, officer safety, CPR/first aid, crowd control, crime scene, and executive protection. Courses meet/exceed BSIS standards. U.S. citizenship is not required. Background checks, state fees, and equipment are paid for by the student (if necessary). Women and disabled persons are encouraged to enroll. A U.S. labor study states there are 2,000 more officers needed this year and over 60 employers in the Fresno area.

CUSTODIAN/JANITOR

In this 17-week class, you will discover the potential opportunities for employment in the Building Maintenance industry. Students will receive hands-on training to prepare for work in schools, hospitals, and private industry.

Prerequisite: CTE Enrollment Session, Student Success Workshop, Computer Literacy, & required test scores.

Days: Monday - Thursday
Times: 8:00am-Noon

FOODSERVICE TRAINING

This TUITION-FREE open entry 270-hour Foodservice Training Program offers students intense practical experience in food preparation and production. Extensive hands-on experience is an integral part of the program. Work experience in food services is typically the primary employment requirement throughout the foodservice industry. During their coursework, students rotate through all the different positions, including: short order cook, food preparation, baking, cashier, expeditor and service assistant. The training takes place at Fresno Adult School’s on-campus restaurant. This restaurant is a quick service facility that provides real-life work experience in a busy establishment. Most program graduates can be employed as cooks in restaurants and other retail eating and drinking places. Opportunities also exist in full-service restaurants, hotels, resorts, country clubs, hospitals, retirement communities, schools, grocery store delicatessens, catering establishments, bake shops, industrial cafeterias, and other organizations.

Prerequisite: CTE Enrollment Session, Student Success Workshop, Computer Literacy, and required test scores. TB test required.
