FOODSERVICE TRAINING

This TUITION-FREE open entry 270-hour Foodservice Training Program offers students intense practical experience in food preparation and production. Extensive hands-on experience is an integral part of the program. Work experience in food services is typically the primary employment requirement throughout the foodservice industry. During their coursework, students rotate through all the different positions, including: short order cook, food preparation, baking, cashier, expeditor and service assistant. The training takes place at Fresno Adult School’s on-campus restaurant. This restaurant is a quick service facility that provides real-life work experience in a busy establishment. Most program graduates can be employed as cooks in restaurants and other retail eating and drinking places. Opportunities also exist in full-service restaurants, hotels, resorts, country clubs, hospitals, retirement communities, schools, grocery store delicatessens, catering establishments, bake shops, industrial cafeterias, and other organizations.
